Quick answer and first checks
Write alt text for the image’s role on the page. Describe a relevant product colour or process detail instead of repeating the brand name. After adding the watermark, check the description and important visual details on the published page.
- Identify the image’s purpose in context
- Write a concise, relevant description
- Review language versions and decorative settings

Describe the image’s purpose on the page
A product photograph may communicate colour, shape or a distinctive detail. An editorial image may explain a step. Write the description for that context rather than copying the file name.
For example, “Blue ceramic mug showing the handle and outer glaze” describes the product. “Our brand, best product” does not. If the watermark contains information essential to understanding the page, provide that information in real page text too.
Follow a practical Wix review sequence
- Separate informative images from purely decorative ones. Use the decorative setting only where the image adds no meaning.
- Write a concise contextual description for each informative image.
- Check the image or gallery alt-text settings. Their location can vary between components.
- If the image is a link, check that its destination is understandable from the text or accessible name.
- Review Turkish, English and German descriptions in their respective language versions; do not assume translation happens automatically.
What stays necessary with Filigrunner
Filigrunner’s placement and image-protection settings do not replace content descriptions. After enabling a watermark, check that important visual details remain visible and that alt text is preserved on the published site. Do not assume a protection setting generates alt text or completes an accessibility audit.
Common questions
Should every alt text say “watermarked”?
If the mark is not important to the image’s main message, describing the actual subject may be more useful. A visible page explanation can communicate ownership separately.
Can I put the page heading inside the photograph instead?
Keep headings, explanations and button labels as selectable HTML text. This site does not bake those elements into images. The original brand logo remains separate artwork, rather than a substitute for readable page content.
