Wix Watermark Not Showing: Scope and Publishing Checks

If a watermark appears in preview but not on the live page, avoid changing settings at random. Narrow the issue to one image, page and device.

Quick answer and first checks

First verify that the image belongs to the selected scope and a supported component. Then check the transparent logo, opacity and publishing state. Compare preview and the live page using the same image to avoid adjusting the wrong target.

  • Check image scope and component support
  • Test the logo file and opacity separately
  • Include the live URL and device in a support report

This guide addresses a real problem rather than listing features. Test the steps in your own Wix editor and published website; interface options may change over time.

01

First confirm which images the app targets

If the watermark is set to product images only, it may be expected not to appear on blog covers. Scope settings such as excluding products or including all images also affect the result. Note whether the affected image is on a product page, in a gallery component or in a background layer.

02

Transparent files and opacity

If the logo within a PNG is already translucent or has large empty margins, lowering opacity in the app can make the watermark almost invisible. Start with a small, clear, high-contrast file and moderate opacity, then reduce opacity to suit the image.

03

Saving, publishing and caching

Seeing changes saved in the dashboard and seeing the same data on the live site may be separate stages. First confirm the app's save status, then check that the change appears on the published Wix site. Test the same URL in a private window and on another device; an old cached version in a regular tab is not sufficient evidence on its own.

04

Third-party gallery and background components

Some gallery apps, background images and dynamic components render content differently from a normal img element. Do not assume that every image in such a component will be targeted automatically. If the issue affects only one component, include the component details and an example URL in your support request.

05

Cropping or shifting on mobile

When cards resize at a mobile breakpoint, the watermark may appear in a different area of the image. Open the same page with the phone in portrait and landscape. If you placed the watermark in a corner, check whether that part of the product photo is being cropped.

06

What information should you include in a support request?

Share the affected page URL, the specific image, desktop/mobile differences, scope and opacity settings, app version and a before-and-after comparison. Describing when the watermark appears or disappears narrows down the cause faster than simply saying it never appears.
